#AskAg Twitter Chat Recap: Gender in Agriculture — Not Only About Women

In conjunction with International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, gender experts came together on Twitter to discuss gender integration for agriculture and food security, including how to incorporate gender-based violence (this year’s IWD theme), how to engage men and boys, and best practices in gender analysis. Featured guests during the chat included: Sylvia Cabus of USAID (@CabusSylvia), Mara Russell of Land O’Lakes International Development (@MaraRussell_IDD), Lindsey Jones of ACDI/VOCA (@LindseyJonesR), as well as Wenchi Yu (@WenchiState) and Greta Schettler (@Greta_Schettler) of the U.S. Department of State. The chat centered on the following guiding questions: What experiences have you had in addressing GBV in sectors such as agriculture and food security? How can we engage men and boys to address gender equality or women's empowerment in your programs? And, how do we overcome these challenges and incorporate gender analysis into our projects?

Read the Storify recap that captures the dialogue around these topics and explore links shared during the chat that showcase best practices in addressing GBV, engaging men and boys, and gender analysis.
