Community of Practice: Food and Agriculture Organization
The Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Climate Change Mitigation in Agriculture Programme (MICCA) facilitates nine communities of practice. These communities provide a network for practitioners, civil society organizations, national policy decision-makers and private sector working on climate-smart agriculture. The communities facilitate the development and adoption of sustainable mitigation practices currently being used in agricultural production systems in different parts of the world.
Through the communities of practice, FAO seeks to:
- Make information about climate change mitigation in agriculture easily accessible for practicioners.
- Foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration among practicioners.
- Support collective efforts to influence relevant policy areas.
- Increase the visibility of climate change mitigation in agriculture at a global level.

The communities of practice organize learning events on a variety of climate-smart practices and climate change mitigation opportunities. These learning events are a series of online webinars and facilitated discussions carried out within the Community of Practice, facilitated by MICCA and partners. Each learning event takes place over a period of two to three weeks and gathers professionals, practitioners and institutions to discuss issues related to climate change and agriculture.
