African Potato Association 2019 CONFERENCE
Event Information
The African Potato Association’s (APA) core objective is to promote production and utilization of potato and sweet potato for food and nutrition security in Africa. Additionally, the APA facilitates knowledge sharing by bringing together diverse stakeholders in the potato sector across Africa and other countries. Drawing scientists, practitioners and entrepreneurs from over 20 African countries and abroad, the APA members represent an extensive range of expertise in research and development of these promising crops.
The African Potato Association local organizing committee together with the Rwanda Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI) and the International Potato Center (CIP) announces the dates and venue of the 11th triennial conference 2019. The APA conference will be held at the Kigali Convention Center from 25-29th August 2019. Delegates should plan to arrive by 15:00 on Sunday the 25th August to be able to participate in the opening event. The 29th of August will be a field day.
This year’s conference will run under the main theme: Leveraging Potato and Sweetpotato Contribution to Sustainable, Nutritious Food Systems. Papers and posters to be presented at the conference should fall within the following six sub-themes:
THEME 1 Increasing Productivity and Nutrition Quality through Breeding and Crop Management
THEME 2 Addressing the Seed System Bottleneck
THEME 3 Assuring Healthy and Safe Diets in a Changing World
THEME 4 Innovating Solutions to Post-harvest Management, Processing Technologies, and Marketing Systems
THEME 5 Exploiting the Digital Revolution for Technology Delivery, Communication & Advocacy Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
THEME 6 Reaching End Users at Scale, Youth, and Gender Engagement
Abstracts are being received until March 14th, 2019.
Abstract submission guidelines are available here. Authors will be required to specify their preferred mode of presentation during abstract submission. We expect a wide range of exhibitors ranging from scientists, private sector, farmer associations, and development agencies. Special symposia and exhibitions can be arranged in consultation with the APA 2019 secretariat.
