Information

USAID’s Bureau for Food Security is hosting a suite of five webinars designed to increase awareness of Agency tools and strategies for catalyzing finance in the agriculture sector. The first webinar will be hosted on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10am EST, and the remaining webinars will be hosted every other Wednesday at the same time through November 21, 2018.

The first webinar will be a training on how the Development Credit Authority (DCA) can be used to mobilize private sector capital for agriculture programs. This interactive session will focus specifically on what the role of DCA is in facilitating agricultural development, how loan guarantees can be used specifically, and take a closer look at case studies and lessons learned. The training will be co-led by Megan Rapp, Senior Development Finance Advisor for USAID DCA, and members of USAID's Investment Support Program.

The webinar is designed for a general audience and no prior experience or knowledge of DCA is necessary. A basic understanding of agricultural finance is helpful, but not critical.

This session is the first of five webinars focused specifically on how USAID can catalyze private sector investment in agriculture. Future sessions will focus on how to better understand the finances of agribusinesses, how to effectively engage with local banks and financial institutions on agriculture programs, how to stimulate investment in agriculture that will specifically increase youth employment, and a panel discussion with agriculture investors on best practices.

Webinars in this series will be held every other Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. EST. from September 26 to November 21, 2018.
