Webinar "Youth & CAADP: The Next Generation of Food Security Leaders"
Event Information
African Youth the Heart of Realizing CAADP Goals With great energy, entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm, African youth are the heart of realizing the Africa’s ambitious food security goals of the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Program (CAADP).
As outlined in the 2014 CAADP Malabo Declaration, the goals call on the African Union Member States to create at least 30% of jobs for the youth through investments in agricultural value chains by 2025. As a result it’s anticipated that youth will play a critical role in agricultural production and the distribution of farm produce. It expects that significant value will accrue to young people in terms of stable incomes, well-paying jobs and nutritious food.
Are you curious to learn more about CAADP and the ongoing role youth play in achieving these goals? Would you like to participate in a conversation about how African youth have fared under CAADP and what opportunities and lessons have been learned so far engaging youth? Would you like to learn more about how to get involved locally, regionally, and at the continental level to achieve these goals?
About the Webinar Africa Lead, a USAID and Feed the Future continental capacity building program in support of CAADP, will be hosting a continental webinar and dialogue to bring together key youth leaders, organizations and networks to provide more information about involvement in CAADP and how to strengthen youth engagement.
The webinar, held during Feed the Future Week (Sept. 9 – 13th, 2019), is part of Africa Lead’s Final Program Year Learning Series. Since 2010 Africa Lead, has been facilitating and supporting African-led, collaborative agricultural policy efforts at the continental, regional, national, and sub-national level, including youth leaders, entrepreneurs and food security champions.
