Policy Data Snapshot: Uganda

Date Published:
June 8, 2018

This brief features selected data on Uganda most relevant to USAID/Uganda's Feed the Future work. According to the Enabling the Business of Agriculture Index, Uganda scores at or above the average from all Feed the Future focus countries surveyed across seven of the eight EBA topic areas, excluding finance. While Uganda’s seed score is higher than the Feed the Future average, there is still wide variation in the strength of the regulatory environment for seed. Also, registration processes for fertilizer are too costly and burdensome and could be improved to promote competition and improve market access for farmers.
This snapshot was produced by the Feed the Future Enabling Environment for Food Security project, a global support mechanism for Missions and Washington-based USAID offices to address policies as well as legal, institutional, and regulatory factors that affect food security.
