Bangladesh Flower Festival 2017: A Photo Essay
The photo essay originally appeared on the Bangladesh AVC website and on the AVC project exposure website and was originally produced by Alex Doyle.
In partnership with invested market actors, USAID’s Bangladesh Agricultural Value Chains Project (AVC), implemented by DAI, helped organize the second annual Bangladesh Flower Fest, attracting over 50,000 people to the three-day event, which promoted the domestic flower industry among urban consumers in Dhaka. The flower sector offers a unique opportunity to engage female farmers as women are engaged in many stages of the flower value chain. AVC is working to improve the livelihoods of women by improving business opportunities to increase overall incomes in the flower sector, creating a more structured supply chain and focusing specifically on linking female flower farmers and traders with other stakeholders and support mechanisms.
