USAID Local Capacity Development Policy Open for Public Comment

The public comment period for USAID’s draft Local Capacity Development (LCD) Policy is now open!
Per Administrator Samantha Power’s Nov. 4 ‘New Vision for Global Development" speech at Georgetown University, “if we truly want to make aid inclusive, local voices need to be at the center of everything we do.” The draft policy — which is rooted in the principles of inclusivity, equity, and locally led and sustained development — is a key step toward fostering and advancing the Agency’s localization vision and reform agenda.
Over the past year, USAID has been drafting a new Agency-wide policy on local capacity development. With this policy, USAID aims to establish an overarching framework that supports greater consistency across sectors, countries and contexts.
You may access and review the draft policy. If you would like, please add any comments in the comment box at the bottom of the same website page. The public comment period will remain open through Jan. 31.
Please also feel encouraged to share this announcement with partners and colleagues in your networks.
Thanks in advance for helping to ensure that this policy truly establishes a vision and common approach to local capacity development that is shared by USAID and the partners, countries, communities, local actors, and other stakeholders and organizations with whom we work.
