New Extensionist Learning Kit

New Extensionist Learning Kit

Developed by the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS), the New Extensionist is a global view of extension and advisory services (EAS) that articulates the role of EAS in the rural context and agricultural innovation systems.

The Learning Kit contains 13 modules designed for self-guided, face-to-face or blended learning. Modules should be used in conjunction with the accompanying workbook. Module 1, Introduction to the New Extensionist, provides the foundation and context needed for the other modules.

Audience:

These modules and resources are for extension field staff, managers, implementing organizations, educators, training institutions or others interested in agricultural extension.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the expanded role of extension and rural advisory services within an agricultural innovation system
  • Acknowledge the pluralistic nature of extension and advisory services 
  • Effectively interact and work with all actors within an agricultural innovation system
  • Describe key functional capacities needed for extension services
  • Understand why functional capacities are important for extension and advisory services
