Sahar Alnouri is EnCompass’ Senior Gender Specialist leading the Advancing Women’s Empowerment (AWE) project. Previously, Ms. Alnouri held several roles at Mercy Corps over 10 years, including five years leading a cross agency gender integration initiative as Mercy Corps’ first Global Gender Advisor. In 2016, she transitioned to Director of Programs in Beirut, Lebanon, where she provided strategic leadership and oversight of a $35 million program portfolio. She led country emergency preparedness planning for response to natural or man-made disasters, secured and launched 8 programs totalling over $21 million in an 18-month period, and built a program management team while overseeing a program team of more than 120 individuals. In addition to Lebanon, Ms. Alnouri has completed field posts in Afghanistan and Iraq and has provided gender technical assistance in more than 15 countries. 

Ms. Alnouri has a Master’s in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University.
