David Mowbray

Canada Senior Consultant, Strategic Opportunities Farm Radio International

I am a consultant with Farm Radio International, a Canadian NGO that works primarily with rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa. My academic training was as a nuclear physicist but I made a career in broadcasting with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the 1980s. In the 90s I moved to development communication and led the communications teams at both IITA in CIMMYT -- two premier research centers of the CGIAR. I have also been the Africa Director for BBC Media Action. I believe that radio that speaks in the voice of the audience and listens to the audience can play a huge and positive role in moving the scale and adoption goal-posts for the benefit of rural families in Africa.
