Ian Schwenke

United States Sr. MEL Associate Nuru International

Ian Schwenke is the Senior Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Associate at Nuru International. Ian holds an MA in Global Human Development from Georgetown University, where he also obtained a certificate in regional studies for sub-Saharan Africa. Ian has experience working with several non-profit organizations in the sectors of agriculture and technical assistance, and education and teacher training. He also has experience with small-scale rural development both from living and working on the African continent for 8 years, and working as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin, West Africa. During his career in the sectors of education and agriculture, Ian has led several trainings on gender stereotypes, womens and girls empowerment, and female ownership of business and agricultural production. At Nuru, Ian is responsible for making sure project indicators are tracked on time, evaluations of our programs are conducted fairly and regularly, and we learn and adapt from best practices and shortcomings alike.
