John has 15 years of experience in international development. He currently oversees knowledge management and communication on USAID's multi-sectoral nutrition project, SPRING. Prior to his work on SPRING, John supported knowledge management and communications efforts on two global HIV projects at John Snow Inc., most recently serving on USAID's flagship HIV knowledge management project, AIDSTAR-One. In this role, John led the development of AIDSTAR-One's online knowledge management platform, designed to capture and share best practices in HIV programming. Prior to his work on AIDSTAR-One, John served as a Communications Officer on the JSI-led Making Medical Injections Safer project, supporting field programs in 9 countries in Africa and the Caribbean. Before joining JSI, John served as an agriculture extension volunteer in Peace Corps Bolivia, where he worked with farmers and a local women’s' group in his rural Andean village to establish small scale organic gardens, increase value added food production capacity, and increase household income through improved marketing techniques. He holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a MA in Health Communication from Johns Hopkins University.
