Laura Leavens

Laura Leavens is a graduate research assistant and master's candidate (Aug '20) in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University.  She works with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Processing and Post-Harvest Handling and has conducted fieldwork in Senegal.  Her current research projects study the longer-term impacts of low-cost, aflatoxin-reducing technologies for maize farmers in southern Senegal as well as evaluating the impacts of a women's food processing business in Touba, Senegal.  Her research interests involve gender, food security, women’s empowerment, agricultural technology adoption, and rural development.
