1. Professional Interests: Crop sciences, Statistic, Rural Development, Computer science and Genetic and biodiversity.

2. Education and Qualifications:

  • Master on Crop Science in Can Tho University (2007).
  • Bachelor on Agronomy in Can Tho University (2002).

3. Training course:

  • Short training course about “Using SPSS software for surveying about pest in rice”, a cooperated between IRRI with Can Tho University in “Three decrease, three grain” program (2005).
  • Training course about “Analytical Writing” in Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry (HUAF), Vietnam (2008).
  • Training Course on “Wetland Ecology and Management in the Lower Mekong Basin” in Thailand and Lao RP (2009).
  • Training course about “Training for trainers on community education to minimize risks by pesticide use and production in the direction VietGAP”. Southern Regional Center Plant Protection. Long Dinh, Tien Giang (2011).

4. Current Status:

  • 2002 - 2004: Researcher at Department of Crop Science, College of Agriculture, Can Tho University and studied on Soybean breeding and using Vetiver grass applied to against erosion canal bank and water polluted treatment.
  • From 2004 to now: Research Officer, Research Center for Rural Development, An Giang University, Vietnam. Specific research on: rural development, evaluation the programme in rice models, floating rice breeding, and alternative crop models.
  • Management experience: Depute Director of Research Center for Rural Development on science research and projects (2012-2021).

5. Project and Research Participation

  1. Activities Coordinator in Vietnam about project on “Promoting the floating rice-based agro-ecological farming systems for a healthy society and adaptation to climate changes in the Lower Mekong Region and Myanmar” Funded by Mitsui foundation (2017-2019).
  2. Participant in the project: “Breeding about floating rice (Oryza sativa) varieties with high quality for flooding area of An Giang province”. Funded by Department Science and Technology of An Giang province (2016-2019).
  3. Participant the project “Towards a Non-Toxic Environment in South East Asia” in extension stage of collaboration program between Research Center for Rural Development of An Giang University and Pesticide Action Network – Asia and the Pacific (PAN AP). Funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) (2013 - 2018).
  4. Carried out research on Assessment of traditional rice-based farming systems for adaptation to climate change in the Mekong Delta” Funded by SEARCA (Philippine) (2016-2017).
  5. Participant in the project: An Giang and Piteå – Sustainable Communication”. A project cooperation between An Giang province (Vietnam) and Piteå city (Sweden) about development and rising awareness on environment protection; and energy strategies and climate change; using byproducts from rice cultivar for energy. Specify on data analysis and writing report of baseline survey and planning (2014-2016).
  6. Participant in the project: “Increasing capacity about practice on solid waste management in Long Xuyen city, An Giang province”. A project cooperation between An Giang province (Vietnam) and Vaxjo city (Sweden). Specify on data analysis and writing report of baseline survey and planning (2014-2016).
  7. Technique coordinator about floating rice – vegetables system component on Project “Floodplain Natural Resources Governance for Future Livelihoods”. Cooperation between Can Tho University, Fulbright program and Research Center for Rural Development – An Giang University. Funded by USAID (USA) (2015-2017).
  8. Carried out research on “Monitoring and evaluation about 75 inbred lines of floating rice (Oryza sativa) at Vinh Phuoc commune, Tri Ton district, An Giang province in seasonal 2015-2016. Funded by Research Center for Rural Development (2016).
  9. Coordinator about research on “Survey about Knowledge – attitude – practice (KAP) on status of solid waste in Long Xuyen city, An Giang province, Vietnam: case study of My Long ward and My Hoa Hung commune”. Funded bay An Giang people committee (Vietnam) and Vaxjo Kommun (Sweden) (2015).
  10. Carried out research “Restoration and development varieties/lines of traditional rice in An Giang and Dong Thap province in seasonal 2014-2015”. Funded by PAN AP and Research Center for Rural Development (2014).
  11. Leader of research: Evaluation the effected of training on rice model “1 Must do, 5 Reductions” in An Giang province, the ACP programme. This research had supported by Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province (2015).
  12. Leader of research: “Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices towards the use of chlorpyrios and paraquat and their impact on human health and the environment”. Cooperated between Research Center for Rural Development – An Giang University, Center for Gender, Family and Environment in Development, Center for Sustainable Rural Development. Participant in the project: “Enhancing resilience for community to adaptation to climate change: Research and training activities for preservation and development of floating rice – vegetables farming systems in Vinh Phuoc commune, Tri Ton District, An Giang province, in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam”. Key participant carried out the research: “Effect of some kind of organic-microbial fertilizers on agronomies characters, yield and economic efficiency of Floating rice (Oryza sativa sp.) at seedling stage and after flooding water recede in Vinh Phuoc commune, Tri ton district, An Giang province”.
