I am inspired by people who understand realities of business in developing countries, are prepared to think deeply about the complexity of using aid to change market institutions, and also able to translate their insight into lucid analysis and straight-forward guidance. For my own part, I have written about innovation and technological capabilities, sustainable livelihoods, participatory tools in the M4P approach, and market systems analysis in emergency contexts. My particular competency lies in helping to bridge gaps: between donor/NGO and private-sector communities, between social, economic and political discourses, and between the perspectives of policy-makers, advisors and practitioners.
