Matthew Luizza

United States Program Officer and Co-Chair of the Africa Pastoralism Working Group U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Dr. Matthew Luizza is a Program Officer with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of International Conservation, Africa Regional Program and Associate Faculty in the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory at Colorado State University. Dr. Luizza provides programmatic oversight and field-based technical support to conservation projects in Africa’s Sudano-Sahel. He is founder and co-chair of the Africa Pastoralism Working Group with U.S. Department of State and USAID, and a member of the IUCN Task Force on Environmental Change and Migration. Dr. Luizza has worked across Africa on issues of wildlife conservation, pastoralism and protected area management, community-based conservation, and invasive species.
