Gayaza Kyankwanzi Women Farmers Cooperative Society Limited is a women Led cooperative with over 410 members (395 women,15 men) in the production of maize , beans and soya beans. The Cooperative has just won a grant from United States African Development Fund (USADF) support to improve its systems and build its capacity since it has just elevated into the secondary stage. The cooperative has a small store where they bulk produce from and
was supported by Pilot light Foundation to put up the store ( 12 meter*7.5meter*2.6 meter) . The cooperative owns land 1/2 where the storage facility was constructed. The cooperative has just conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where members exercised their democracy by electing members of their choice We are now looking for potential partners to support this cooperative move and develop to another level where they can add value to their produce, strengthen their leadership to be able to manage and fundraise for more funds but also improve their household incomes and nutrition of their families and also work together as family( Women, Husband and Children) using the Gender Action Learning systems( GALS METHODOLOGY) where each person at household level works together to improve their livelihood. We are very optimistic that if families work together, production will increase and the cooperative will have more produce and hence increased incomes at household.
