Peter Hazell

Peter Hazell trained as an agriculturalist in the UK before completing a Ph D in agricultural economics at Cornell University. From 1972 to 2005 he held various research positions at the World Bank and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington DC. He was a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London during 2006-12. Peter's publications include works on farm and agricultural sector modeling, the impact of technical change  in agriculture on the poor, farm-nonfarm growth linkages, returns to public investment in agriculture, land rights and tenure security in Africa, sustainable development strategies for less-favored areas,  development strategies for smallholder farms, agricultural insurance, and methods of assessing the impact of food policy research. Peter currently lives in Santa Barbara, California where he works as an independent scholar and Research Fellow Emeritus at IFPRI.
