Dr. Thoric Cederström is an experienced applied social science professional with over 30 years of experience in primary data collection and analysis using mixed methods, program design, monitoring and evaluation, technical assistance, and policy analysis.  He is an expert in sustainable food systems, especially food/nutrition/livelihood security of vulnerable populations, primarily in complex environments that include conflict-prone and post-conflict situations of economic recovery.  He is a champion of private sector driven, market-based approaches to malnutrition that involve both private and public sector stakeholders as active partners.  Thoric has broad technical experience and expertise in participatory food/livelihood security assessments, quantitative surveys, qualitative research, program design, capacity building, training, and monitoring and evaluation, including anthropometric surveys.  As a youth, Dr. Cederstrom grew up on a family dairy farm outside Kansas City, Missouri and from this agricultural upbringing he gained an intimate understanding of hard work and judicious management that successful agricultural production demands.  From those beginnings, he has gone on to work extensively in Mexico, Central and South America, Africa, and Central and South Asia and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and conversant in French.
