John McMurdy

United States International Research and Biotechnology Advisor USAID-Bureau For Food Security

John is an International Research and Biotechnology Advisor in the Bureau for Food Security at USAID where, for the last five years, he has managed agency investments in plant biotechnology R&D and biotechnology regulatory policy. John also manages several of the agencies investments in African maize improvement and, most recently, has been supervising eight new seed scaling grants in partnership with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). 

Prior to coming to USAID as an AAAS fellow, John served as the Chief Technology Officer at Corum Medical, a technology company he co-founded with physician and engineering colleagues in Providence, Rhode Island.
