Kiara Ivy

United States Graduate Assistant Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University

I am Kiara Ivy a second year masters student of Entomology at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. I received my bachelors in Biology Pre-Medical Sciences from FAMU as well. I am currently looking for the establishment and spread of natural enemies of the red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta) in North Florida. I have a passion for protecting fragile ecosystems from invasive species. I am also participating in research through the Trellis Fund Fellowship Feed the Future Program. I am working on creating an integrated pest management manual for agriculture in Guatemala. I hope that this experience gives me the opportunity to contribute to global agriculture and in the future, global public health. Outside of research, I enjoy connecting with nature, track and field, and crocheting.
