Md. Shahabuddin Shihab
Shihab has more than eight years of professional experience in agricultural sector of Bangladesh with non-profit International NGOs to strengthen food security, reduce poverty, improved livelihood market systems development, and enhance human nutrition of smallholders in Bangladesh. Shihab currently serves as the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center’s Research and Development Officer for the implementation of the Feed the Future Bangladesh Cereal Systems Initiatives for South Asia– Mechanization and Extension Activity (CSISA–MEA) project funded by the USAID and implemented by CIMMYT and its partners iDE and Georgia Institute of Technology, he leads to develop the capacity of the smallholders to use climate smart agricultural technologies, improved varieties, conservation agriculture, good agronomic practices, solar energy for irrigation and dryers as well as developing machinery manufacturing sectors to produce high quality, competitively priced agricultural machinery, and its spare parts in Cox’s Bazar regions. A passionate advocate for agricultural market systems development with partnerships, Shihab is responsible to prepare detailed implementation plan (DIP) according to work plan, negotiate with Private Sector Partners to develop JVA, Subgrants, MoU, and have strong knowledge and experience in partnership management, budget preparation, reporting, and project activities implementation. He maintains a strong communication and collaborative professional relationship with different I/NGOs, Govt., and Private Sector organizations. for smooth project implementation. Shihab is also responsible for developing extension training materials for smooth field operation of agricultural machinery like Power tiller operated seeder, Bed Planter, rice transplanter, AFP, reaper, power threshers, maize sheller, combine harvester, etc. Prior to his work in Bangladesh with CIMMYT, Shihab was worked with International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) as a proactive consultant and supervisor in Jashore, Faridpur, Barishal and Gaibandha regions of Bangladesh.
