Improving Food Security and Trade Through Better SPS Systems in Africa
Event Information
As productivity increases and regional tariff barriers are eliminated, Sanitary-Phytosanitary (SPS) issues are rising to greater prominence, given their impact on public health and agriculture and food systems.
Join this Ag Sector Council Seminar where presenters will highlight key investment opportunities to improve SPS systems, enhance regional trade and improve food safety.
Specifically, you will learn about key findings of the USAID Leveraging Economic Opportunities (LEO) project’s three regional case studies in Eastern Africa (maize, livestock and livestock products), Southern Africa (maize, groundnuts and soya beans) and West Africa (maize, ruminant livestock and poultry), which identified the biggest threats to food safety and plant health systems within staple crops and livestock value chains across Feed the Future target countries.
