Cynthia Donovan

United States Associate Professor, Emeritus Michigan State University

Since 1981, I have been involved with agricultural research, training and outreach in developing countries. I just retired as the Deputy Director of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Legume Systems Research, as well as an Associate Professor in International Development in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE). I have previously worked with the FAO, IFPRI, and West African Rice Development Association (now Africa Rice). While I am focused on program administration now, I have research and policy advocacy expertise focused on key issues in development including production economics and technology adoption, rural survey design and execution, market development for smallholder participation, market information systems, and impact assessment of policies and shocks on rural households. Geographical focus is in sub-Saharan Africa, especially Mozambique and Angola, with extensive experience in West, East, and Southern Africa, as well as Asia and Latin America.
