Nicolas Uwitonze
Nicolas is passionate about contributing to the advancement of the vision of sustainable development and poverty eradication in developing countries.
Nicolas is a professional agricultural extensionist & climate smart agriculture expert with over 5 years professional experience in agriculture extension work, agronomy, climate smart agriculture, nutrition and business management across major crops & livestock value chains. Since November 2019, Nicolas is an independent consultant for the USAID’s Feed the Future Developing Local Extension Capacity project (DLEC) to conduct a study on “youth and private sector engagement in extension & advisory services in Rwanda and Uganda”, examining ways to engage youth as both providers and recipients of extension. Currently, Nicolas is a graduate student (Master’s in integrated crop management at the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland).
Over the past few years, Nicolas have worked with both government, non-governmental organizations, development partners, private sector, and higher learning institutions in Rwanda and abroad. Have traveled for business & training in Switzerland, USA (in over 16 states), South Korea, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda. He is skilled and experienced trainer in agriculture related and extension work; facilitator of workshops & meetings; and technical writer of work plans, reports, project designs, concept papers. He has conducted and supported development related research involving youth empowerment, private sector, extension, Agro-ecology, Information and communication, Integrated Pests management, policy analysis and many more.
