Data in Emergencies Trend Analysis Application
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) established the Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Information System in June 2020. Driven by regularly collected primary data, its objective is to understand the impact of shocks in food crisis contexts and inform decision-making in support of agricultural livelihoods. DIEM is organized around four pillars, including DIEM-Monitoring.
DIEM-Monitoring surveys are conducted using a standard set of questions posed to agricultural households across 27 countries multiple times a year. The DIEM-Monitoring process is completely standardized from data collection to processing and management, which facilitates spatio-temporal analysis of all variables, especially now that multiple rounds of surveys have been conducted in each DIEM country. The new Trend Analysis Application is a tool that assists DIEM users and analysts in quickly identifying temporal trends across each of the approximately 150 DIEM indicators at the subnational level (administrative level 1 or 2, depending on the survey design and location). Due to the relative complexity of the tool, it is recommended that users first acquaint themselves with all of the DIEM indicators covered by the DIEM-Monitoring System Application, which provides maps and charts from every survey.
