Manohara Khadka

Nepal Country Representative/Senior Researcher International Water Management Institute (IWMI)-Nepal

Dr. Khadka is the Country Representative for IWMI Nepal since 2019. She brings over 2 decades’ experiences in programmatic, policy and research portfolios of forestry, agriculture, water resource, climate change and disaster in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region with strong passion and focus on gender equality, women’s empowerment, social inclusion and rural livelihoods. She has a PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University, the Netherlands and an MSc in Natural Resources Management from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway.  She has studied community forestry, decentralized agriculture extension, rural livelihoods, biodiversity, forest policies, institutions, disaster risk reduction, climate change issues using gender and governance theories and approaches. She is interested in to engage in research for development looking at  the relationships between water, food and nutrition security, and rural transformation in Nepal and South Asia from gender/social perspectives.
